The end of the line is the best bit.

Pwllheli is the northern terminus of the Cambrian Coast line. Where the track stops, in the station building, there’s a café named after the buffers.

  1. Arrive

Step off the train, or walk over from Station Square.

  2. Sit down

Inside, or at the covered seats on the platform. Dogs welcome.

  3. Refuel

A cooked breakfast, Welsh pancakes, waffles or a bacon bap, with coffee.

  4. Buffers

    Open daily, 8.30am – 2.30pm.

Once upon a breakfast, at Pwllheli station…

…there was a café called Buffers, with a little steam engine on its menu and breakfasts named Ivor the Engine, The Rocket and the Orient Express.

Chapter one

The big engine

Buster Biggs: three of everything, with tea or coffee.

Chapter two

The sweet stop

Welsh pancakes, a stack of three, homemade. Or two hot waffles.

Chapter three

For everyone

Highchairs for the smallest passengers, and dogs welcome too.

A tray of chocolate rocky road topped with pink and white marshmallows and chocolate pieces

And they all had cake. The end.
